A Loss of Time

In the past few days, I can't seem to find enough time to do everything. I need to get outside for a bit. If I don't take a long walk down the driveway, I'll die from lack of fresh air! Tomorrow after Mass, I'll rush outside and wrestle with Rosey. I can hardly wait!
In my frequent looks out the window, I've noticed the snow has been melting very quickly. I love snow, but after a day full of playing in it, I want it to be gone. At least I can see the ground very well, though it's not completely gone. In a few days It'll be gone and I'll be happy.

Power Outages and Pets

This morning the power went out. It stayed like that for 4 hours. Daddy turned the generator on, and at some point before he turned it off, the power went back on. The rest of the day went normally.
I haven't had time to train my pets, but I'll try to get some training in tomorrow. I've also got to race Sara. Every week I time her on a course. Basically, she just races her ghost. My goal is to get her to be the fastest turtle in the world. She's going to be a champion someday, I just know it!
My pets and I can't wait for tomorrow's blog!

Even More Snow!

My goodness! There's so much snow
out there. I've made trails that I can walk in to get to the backyard. I need to finish my snow fort by tonight, or I'll be very disappointed. The picnic table now measures 20 inches of snow on it. The snow's a lot of fun, but all be glad when it melts. The carport with the sawmill under it collapsed, and the clothesline bent. Snow can be very destructive. I'm going to have to wait until next week to see my students again. At least I gave them lots of assignments to do! I'm all finished grading, and now I don't know what to do. I guess I'll just sit here and blog... Well, here's some pictures of the snow. It's unbelievably real!

Snow!

There's so much snow! When I last checked, the picnic table had 10 1/2 inches of snow on it. It's a lot of fun, but my students had to cancel because of it. I've made some interesting snow creations. It's easy to make disgusting snowmen when you have 3 older brothers that read Calvin and Hobbes. Rosey and Bobby are enjoying the snow, especially when I'm out there. Rosey and I love wrestling and having snow fights together. Bobby just likes to run around and be chased. Well, I should probably go now, as I have to grade some essays.

My Beautiful Pets

The show went as expected. I can't say we did great, but the audience didn't appear disappointed. I decided to let Henna and Rosey do their act, and I think it went alright.
Now to my cute little pets! I adore each of them, especially that golden dog and that curious turtle... Rosey is so smart. Not many dogs have her beauty and personality. And Sara, she's so... so... well so fantastic! There are no words to describe my beautiful pets. As you can see, I love to brag about them. I want the whole world to know about them, and that's probably the reason that three of them are in my book. You know, if you study a dog's face, you'll find them remarkably like a person's face. Rosey's got long, golden eyelashes and soft brown eyes. When she licks, it's like a person's gentle kiss. Turtles are a bit different. Sara's eyes are a piercing brown, and she lacks eyelashes. But when she yawns, it's like a young child's yawn. Cats, chickens and guinea pigs are a lot different. A cat's eyes are round and piercing, much like a box turtle's. Bobby's are bloodshot blue, and very big. His tongue is very rough. He doesn't have any eyelashes. Eyes on chickens are small and round, a little bit bigger than a turtle's. Henna's tongue is long and narrow, and she can't lick. She definitely does not have eyelashes. Her eyelids close from the bottom up, like most birds. Guinea pigs have small, dark brown eyes. From a distance, they look black, but if you look closely, they're brown. Rocky also lacks any eyelashes. His tongue is much like a chicken's, but smaller. He has two long teeth that need grinding down, unlike my other pets. If you look at an animal very closely, you'll notice something very unusual.

Snowy Show!

Well, today's the day of the show and it's snowing! Although, I was expecting it to snow. The snow's not a problem, but the animals are. I went to pick up Henna and she ran from me. I had to corner her! I think they're just nervous, but that's normal. Henna and Rosey cannot do their act together. It really is too bad, for that's a favorite among my animal-loving fans. Although, they do like it when Sara blows on them. I'm so happy that I can get the show over with and get back to reading, training, writing and teaching. I know it sounds like a lot, but believe me, it's not! Well, I should probably set my computer down and do something useful. I'll tell you how the show went tomorrow!

A Change of Plans

Last night I got to thinking about the show (not that I haven't stopped thinking about it!), and I decided that Henna's not going to do her stick act. I'll just have to make the tightrope act look amazing. She also has the act with Rosey, but that's not turning out so well. Somehow, I've got to get Rosey to forget she's a yellow lab! Even though the act with Henna isn't working out, Her solo act is coming along beautifully! Too bad Bobby doesn't have a solo act. I don't have time to work with him, so he's just going to look cool and act awesome. At least Sara knows hers. She's pretty smart for being a little box turtle. Anyway, even though it's Friday the 13th, I have a hunch things will go better today.

We Have a Problem Here!

Like I said in the title, we have a problem here! Rosey does NOT want Henna on her back, and Henna refuses to get on the stick. I've been working with those two so much, I haven't had time to train Bobby. I'm counting on Sara knowing her act perfectly, because I don't think I'll have time to train her. When I'm inside the house, I'm working on flyers and pamphlets. When I'm outside, I have Henna and Rosey in the arena. No matter how hectic it is, I think I'll be able to put on a great show in just 3 days. I kind of have to have a show put together in 3 days, because this month's show and next month's show are booked solid!
I've also got a class today. Thursdays I go to a class at the Mossyrock School. I've got to leave in about an hour. Fortunately, I've got my pets. Yeah, I know, they're the cause of my problems, but if they didn't make me angry, I'd die!

Show Time!

With my book, students, and ordinary life, I completely forgot about the show that's coming up. My pets and I perform a show every month, but I'm not sure I'm ready for this one. Sara's got her act down, but Rosey, Henna and Bobby are struggling. I can't get Henna to walk the tightrope and she doesn't always climb on the stick. Rosey won't behave around Henna. She keeps looking back at Henna when she's riding on Rosey's back. I wish they made blinkers for dogs! Bobby doesn't know his act at all! I haven't even worked with him yet. Henna and Rosey need to master their act, Bobby needs to learn his, and I need to practice my little part. All I do is walk around and tell the animals what to do. I also hold Henna's stick that she's supposed to climb on. The show is in 4 days, so I'd better get off the computer and get busy!
By the way, feel free to drop by and watch my show!

Lightning Sara and Other Turtles

I didn't realize how much fun turtles were until I had Sara for about a month. In the time that I've had her, I've discovered many things. She can yawn, she touches things with her nose and I can train her to do things. I've taught her how to blow back when someone blows on her. No one believes me until she does it to them!

Books and Pets

My first book is written and edited, so now I need to send it out to be published. I'm not very excited for all that. It's hard to find time to write, teach and spend time with my wonderful pets, but in a way it's fun.
These cold nights can be hard on dear old Rosey. Fortunately, though, she has her blanket that I can cover her up with. Sometimes I wonder what would be like to be a dog...
